If you're reading this blog, that means I've caught your attention, I'm hoping that I'm able to catch more than just your attention for this post. I'm hoping you will take a moment out of your time surfing the web and sign this petition. I learned about this petition on my father's facebook, I've been posting it like crazy and trying to get as many people to sign it as possible.
So why is this petition so important to me? That's easy, my father is a member of the NYPD Transit K-9 Unit! Yes that's right, I have an NYPD K-9 dog living in my home. Not only am I blessed to have my father be a hero on the streets, but my little four legged boy is also a hero on the streets! Back in 2007, Onyx arrived to American from the Czech Repubic and it's been love ever since! He's spent many hours training and even more hours risking his life on the streets to protect and serve.
So why shouldn't he be taken care of when he retires? You think it's cheap to take care of a dog? There are so many things that need to be taken care of each and every year. They go to the doctor just like us for their check ups, there are medications that they need to take every month. Not to mention their teeth, you think us humans have bad dentist bills? They have pretty bad ones too! It's funny isn't it, when a human retires they are able to still have their health benefits taken care of. Why shouldn't he? So he has four legs instead of two, that doesn't mean that he didn't work hard to deserve to be taken care of.
So I'm asking you, now that you've read this, take a moment and sign the petition! K-9 Bill of Rights, Congress and Senate Representatives
