Matt Takes A Bite!

Everyone meet Onyx, he’s a soon to be 7 year old German shepherd who is currently active on the NYPD Transit K-9 unit. He is the sweetest most loving worker dog I’ve ever met, at least at home he is, at work. .. .. that’s a whole other story. He’s your typical geek, you know the type of person that is so book smart, but when it comes to common sense it’s like uh.. .. duh….what? When he is at work, he’s so on spot, he does everything like he should, he’s so well trained. I mean even when they go to the shooting range, he just sits there and doesn’t even seem bothered by the gun shots. But when it comes to walking without smashing into something, he’s a lost cause.

Coolest part of having an NYPD K-9 unit dog? Watching him in action, my middle brother Matthew has decided to try out for the ESU K-9 unit, since he’s successfully tried out for the transit K-9 unit a year ago, we know that he’s physically fit enough to do it, but he decided that he needed to step it up a bit. So what does he do? He comes to my house, puts Onyx to use and takes some bites as they call it. I decided since it was such a nice day out, I’d grab my camera and snap some shots of it. To me, I think this is pretty cool, so I thought I’d share it on my blog. So enjoy, next time I am going to try to capture a video, because it’s so much cooler to see the entire thing rather than shot by shot.
